I have a propensity for sets of three and sets of seven. Particularly, sets of three women, and sets of seven children. An evolution to odd numbers, since in middle school and high school, I had a preference for four and eight. It seems that I just subtracted one, changing order and symmetry into a delicate balance or intentional imbalance. Perhaps it is also a shift away from worlds for characters to inhabit, to characters that inhabit a world.
