Wedding Rituals
Muted Real
Two friends were married yesterday at the Landscape Arboretum. It was a very simple, very beautiful ceremony. There were some rituals still observed - the bride's processional, bride's and groom's parties, vows and exchanges of rings. But they took it out of the context of the church, out of dogmatic religion, and I found that very inspiring. I don't plan on getting married in a church. I want the ritual to be something important to the two of us instead of adhering to empty gestures that do not resonate. Rings? Yes. Vows? Yes. Beyond that, I don't know yet.

Here's to the married couple. May they continue to challenge, teach and desire each other for all their lives.
