Bittersweet
Singing Agathe

The sweet: Senator Obama is now the President elect.

The bitter: Arizona and Florida have voted to ban gay marriage. Arkansas has voted to ban gay couples (and unmarried straight couples) from adopting children. Polls indicate that most likely California will ban gay marriage as well.

Forgive me if I'm not a fountain of sunshine today.

Although slim...

(Anonymous)
There is still hope

"Roughly 400,000 votes separate yes from no on Prop 8 – out of 10 million votes tallied.

Based on turnout estimates reported yesterday, we expect that there are more than 3 million and possibly as many as 4 million absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted.

Given that fundamental rights are at stake, we must wait to hear from the Secretary of State tomorrow how many votes are yet to be counted as well as where they are from.

It is clearly a very close election and we monitored the results all evening and this morning.

As of this point, the election is too close to call.

Because Prop 8 involves the sensitive matter of individual rights, we believe it is important to wait until we receive further information about the outcome.

Re: Although slim...

I don't know how I feel about all the talk that's still happening. Yes, I want to cling to the hope that some miraculous way, Prop 8 will be defeated. But at what point does it become blind hope, misguided hope, irrational hope?

Don't... don't read any of the comments sections on any of the news sites that allow reader feedback under their articles. I just did it and I think my brain is broken. For instance, did you know that it's actually gays who are the bigots, for trying to stifle the will of the people? Silly me, all this time I had it backwards.

I've seen too many proofs of "John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory" news comment sections lately. And the photos of Prop 8 supporters in celebration prayer? My heart hurts. My spirit is tired.

And I just don't understand.

Going to court

(Anonymous)
Multiple groups are taking the decision to court and there are numerous lawsuits that are being filed, the issue isn't dead yet it seems.
