Things Don't Happen in Sets of Three
Staring Forward
wilowisp
They happen in sets of 33, or 333 or what have you.

Let me ask you this. Have, are you currently, or will you most likely in the near future do any of the following:

1. Get engaged/married.
2. Begin Grad School.
3. Move to Seattle.

I myself have not, am not, nor will be doing any of these in the near future. Seems like pretty much everyone else I know is doing one or more. Yes, yes, I hyperbolize, even if that's not a word. I'm trying to get a point across. There's either some conspiracy going on, or some kind of enzymatic detonation just went off in my generation.

This is particularly rantish, so congratulate yourself on reading this far. Have a cookie, have a shot, have a romp in the bushes. All while I clarify that this doesn't make me angry in any way, shape or form. True, it makes me feel like an underachiever, but whatever, I'll squander my potential any way I damn choose, thank you very much. It's just odd.

It's all good. You're not the only one.

Ok, so number 4 would be:

You are noticing an abnormal percentage of your friends and acquaintances doing 1, 2 or 3.

i'm not in on that stuff.:) though i sure as heck wouldn't mind moving to the west coast.:)

See! See! It's slowly creeping into your brain!

I wouldn't be surprised in the least, either, if you started considering grad school in the next year or so.

1. No.
2. Nope.
3. No, Again.

See, it's not quite everybody. But I know how you feel.

Of course, everyone who isn't doing one of the three is going to speak up, and everyone who is doing one or more is just shaking their heads and calling me crazy.

Does living in Portland for 4 years count?

Yes, I say, yes! Especially since two of my friends are currently arguing between moving to Seattle or to Portland.

The 4 years is a bit of a outlier on the time frame, but still...

Portland, definitely Portland. At least as far as I am concerned. What other city has an over 5,000 acre park inside city limits? You can get your wonderful dose of trees and get there by public transit, even more than one way.

ditto on her statement. seattle's another big city, portland's a lifestyle.
